6-1-19 Monthly Deacon meeting

TOPIC:  Youth Outreach Pastor

• Review of advertised job description
• Ensuring Nick and Alicia are involved as the person will be working with Alicia
• Currently have 15+ resumes, most not what we are looking for
• First step is a phone interview just to get a feel for them
  • 2 phone interviews done so far, one good, one not so good
    • Nicholas Buttman- Calling again on Tuesday 6/4
    • Saved in 2009 in college through Campus Crusade for Christ
    • Wife Ashley is an elementary teacher
    • Serves at Calvary Bible Church –doctrine/beliefs are very similar
    • Ministry desire includes transition of teens to adult church
    • If 2^nd call goes well, will invite to come down just to visit the area
    • Salary has not been discussed
    • If they are not interested, will step back a couple weeks and start search from scratch

TOPIC:  Sunday Evening service

• Pray about direction for Sunday PM services
• In need of change for someone else to preach/teach on Sunday evening and take some of the load off of Pastor.
• George is going to cover through the summer
• Discussion on attendance when Pastor is not there
  • Currently only about 5% of churches still have an evening service
  • This may be the trend someday here eventually. It is a trend we are fighting
• Pastor finds the times he did not have the responsibility of evening service, he has more time to do visitation and other pastoral responsibilities.
• Disscused Pros/Cons and ideas
• Need to continue to pray about this and look forward to what 2020 will look like

TOPIC: Missions

•  Pastor no longer wants to bring in missionaries to speak that we don’t know much about
• Will be doing more vetting of who we have and those that are going out to field before they come here to present before the church
