Attendees: Pastor Joe, Charlie Cox, Tyler McDonald, Jeremy Mullins, Larry Mullins, Rod Denman, Mike Bell, Wayne Hudson, Jim Bennett (Trustee Chairman)

Jeremy opened in prayer.

Charlie gave a missionary update

  • Consideration is being given to Eric and Ashley Woodward from Honduras
  • Tommy and Brenda Ashcraft – Brenda passed away
  • The Starlings – Still in Florida and we will continue their support for now
  • Billie Sloan – No longer supporting

Pastor said we will invite more missionaries to share their calling in 2019.

Charlie said Gwen has updated the Widows/Shut-Ins list. He reminded the deacons to stay in contact with the ones on their list.

Pastor shared that Charlotte Masterson recently had surgery and is unable to safely make it to her basement to do laundry. He recommended the church purchase a stackable washer and dryer that could be installed upstairs. A portion would come from the Deacon’s Benevolent Fund and the remainder from the church budget. Jim Bennett stated the Trustees support this assistance.

Jeremy made a motion to take $500 from the Deacon’s Benevolent Fund to assist Ms. Masterson. Charlie Cox seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Pastor shared his thoughts on our search for a Worship Pastor. We need to look at the church’s weaknesses and strengths and find a man whose strengths are our weaknesses and whose weaknesses are our strengths. We are starting over from scratch. Most candidates Pastor has talked with are not choir people; and said the choir could become obsolete. Deacons were asked to continue praying for God’s guidance.

Pastor talked with three candidates this week; all were young. Many applicants aren’t Baptist belief oriented. Primary goal – Find someone who can do it all and keep the choir. Secondary goal – Find someone who can do most of it and keep the choir. Our desire and reality may be two different things. Pastor is going to ask the Trustees if they would agree to increase the starting salary to attract more talented and experienced candidates. Ultimately, we want whoever God wants to fill this position.

Jim Bennett said the Trustees are looking to replace the bus and both vans. Charlie Cox, who is part of the vehicle replacement committee, has a printed list of used vehicles to research. Charlie said the list of used buses includes various sizes and equipment and gives an idea of what is available and at what price. He also said if we had two of the activity buses and a regular bus, CBT’s needs should be met. No matter what we get, we need to buy something that is presentable and will last.

Jeremy recommended the new vehicles be wrapped (detailed with church logo, etc.).

Rod suggested we put the Bus Ministry needs in the bulletin and state that donations are welcome.

Pastor is looking for someone to be in charge of the bus/van ministry. He said those who are currently involved will be asked for their input.

Pastor mentioned that Mike and Emily Bell have been working at the Welcome Center. Mike said people are coming to the Welcome Center and asking questions; which is a good thing. Pastor said he is going to work on a list of people to train to work at the Welcome Center.

Tyler suggested putting a list of possible CBT ministries together to get more people involved.

Larry asked if we are dropping Joe Hudson’s Sunday school class. Pastor replied, “Not at this time”. Pastor is trying to find a teacher for this class and asked for recommendations. It is a good class and no one wants it to break up.

No further business.

Mike closed in prayer.
