Questions specific for Joe Ferreria

What does communion look like in your church: closed or open
 Answer: Open

You have served in your church for a number of years now as an associate pastor.  Why now do you feel led to leave that for a senior pastor position?
Answer: Kids are older and more established. God lays things on his heart. Last year or two he has been more open. Would finish his ministry, Lord willing, wherever he moves. Possible good fit after watching our services and checking out our FB page.

You preach to a large crowd on Sunday night and we would like to hear/see more of you doing that..  Does the church website or the church YouTube record the evening services as well?
Answer: Keep the main thing the main thing. Joe’s decision – Didn’t want it to be a completion – number of views, etc. Joe could provide audible sermons. Not opposed to taping all services, regardless of who is preaching.

You told us as little about your belief on Predestination and said that you “hold to the doctrine of Election”  Can you clarify a bit for us what that means
Answer: Ephesians 1 – Can’t say it doesn’t exist. Christ died for the whole world. Call upon the Lord to be saved. Joe believes both are taught in scripture. We have a free will. His ways are not our ways . . .

When a member refuses to acknowledge their sin and repent, you said they must be removed from the Church. What does that look like  both from a Pastor’s role and the Church’s?
Answer: Individual first Matt 18, then 2 or 3, then before the church in hope of reconciliation. Deal with issue with smallest number possible. Galatians restore such a one, but be cautious of yourself.

 Answer:

Darci says Serving – Joe says humble, servant behind the scenes, Loves working with kids, Administrative skills, organized, Camp Darci – Ladies come to their hours for arts and crafts

Darci says: Administrative skills, organized, disciplined, efficient, likes things done right.

Answer: Can’t sing or keep a beat. Not as efficient as he would like to be. He delegates.

What things in life and ministry cause you to feel discouraged
Answer: Sometimes you just go through the motions or fall in a rut. Doesn’t like change for change sake. Good young couples have left because they needed services nor contemporary. Joe was frustrated. There is value in young and old worshiping together. The church is made up of a diverse congregation.

Working through our Current situation:

Do you feel like you are fully aware of our churches’ current situation and condition and actions we have taken as Deacons up to this point
Answer: Yes – he believes it has been explained well to him. Eclc -With much knowledge there is much sorrow

Are there any areas of concern you have about our church
Answer: Nothing major. Make sure isn’t about to close. Financially sound, Salary package to look over. Quarterly business meeting budget/Expenses/Income. Healthy

Knowing the actions we have taken with both of the families and our stand on being Biblically forever disqualified from any pulpit as a pastor for his sin, what are your thoughts on our actions as it relates to our former senior pastor
 Answer:

This has been a unique situation with the circumstance of the sin that took place here.   Because of this we chose to also have our worship pastor step down due to the nature of the sin extending to his family. After much prayer, discussion, and study of scripture we concluded that his ministry at Baptist temple would no longer be effective and would surely be divisional had we not taken this action.  What are your thoughts on that?
 Answer:

Currently our former senior pastor has chosen to stay in the area, possibly seeking to become pastor of another church and he has been discovered leading members away .  Do you feel like you are prepared to deal with any issues that continue to arise from this situation and what kind of unique skills and experiences do you feel qualify you as the best choice to shepherd our church through this situation.
Answer: Yes. Go talk with Tim, if a viable option. Contact people and tell them he is new and ask them to give us a try. After that, focus on the current and new members.
